Orange Democratic Movement Migori officials have commenced the process of removing Governor Okoth Obado from the party’s list of registered members.
Led by the party’s branch secretary Joseph Olala and Chairperson Phillip Makabong’o, the officials said that the recent proclamation by Obado to join a rival party while within ODM contravenes political parties' policies.
In a statement, the officials in a statement blamed Obado for planning to paralyse the party operations and issued a seven-day ultimatum demanding that Obado tenders his resignation and create room for a by-election failure to which they’ll seek other legal avenues.
Olala added that the Migori governor had been defiant rocking the party from within.
The officials, however, blamed the top party organs for meddling with the grassroots affairs saying it’ was not the first time they were recommending penalties against Obado.

Last year, the Migori ODM office had recommended the removal of the governor from office over a series of corruption allegations. However, their recommendations were not implemented.
Obado has been under fire from the county and national assembly legislators over his decision to rejoin the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Peter Masara (Suna West) said the governor’s new political outfit cannot reshape the political landscape of any region.
