A 19-year-old man has been shot dead at Ngilai in Samburu North Sub County for allegedly being in a love affair with a married woman.
Chief Wiliam Leleruk said the suspect, who is well known in the village, fled.
Witnesses said while armed with a gun, the suspect traced the deceased to a grazing field where he had gone to look after livestock and opened fire.
He was also spotted by a woman working nearby.

"The deceased, before taking his last breath, also disclosed that it was the suspect who shot him," Leleruk said on the phone.
The residents say the suspect vowed to commit suicide after killing his wife over infidelity.
It is claimed that the suspect had earlier approached elders and asked them to summon the deceased and caution him against having a relationship with his wife.
The suspect’s wife has fled her home and went back to her parents' house.
Police have launched investigations.
The body was taken to the Samburu Referral Hospital mortuary in Maralal town.
