Impala travel to Menengai Oilers targeting first win of the year.

Kenya Harlequin are seeking to hand Kabras Sugar their first loss of the season when they host the Kakamega-based side in a Kenya Cup round nine match at the RFUEA grounds today.

The match will see Quins head coach Charles Cardovillis face off against his former team, a side he guided to the 2017 National Sevens Circuit title.

Cardovillis’ men head to the match buoyed by last weekend’s 80-3 thumping of KRU Championship side Ngong Warriors in an Enterprise Cup fixture.

“Everything we were doing was in preparation for the Kabras match and the boys really played well; the set pieces were good and the attack structure was also superb especially in the second half,” Cardovillis said.

In Kabras, Quins face a side that has earned themselves the title contenders tag as they top the 12-team standings with a 100 percent record, eight matches into the season.

“Of course, I know Kabras players quite well.We had a good time with them but at the end of the day once the whistle goes we shall have to try and get the victory,” Cardovillis said.

The match, scheduled to get underway at 4pm,will be preceded by the tie pitting Mwamba against Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad.

Meanwhile, Impala Saracens, who are on a four-match losing streak, will be chasing for their first win of the year when they confront newbies Menengai Oilers in Nakuru.

Impala’s dip in form has seen them drop to seventh on the log and head coach Frank Ndong’ has called upon his charges to turn things around.

“We don’t know much about Oilers and playing such teams is always difficult. They have a good coach and are well drilled so we shall have to be at our best," Ndong’ said.

Other matches slated for today will see two-time champions Nakuru RFC welcome Nondescripts as Mean Machine and Homeboyz face off at the University of Nairobi grounds.  Defending champions KCB will clash with Strathmore Leos.

Nakuru RFC coach Mitch Ochola said: "We are going to the game with humility. Nondes have proved they they have gone to their traditional way. We should handle our set pieces well," Ocholla said.
