Foreign missions are responding to the government's request for food aid and have started giving their donations to save millions of Kenyans from starvation.
President Uhuru Kenyatta made the appeal after declaring the ongoing drought a national disaster. Yesterday, Emirates Red Crescent donated four tonnes of food for distribution in the lower parts of Murang'a that have been listed as being in dire need of food.
Senator Kembi Gitura and Murang'a County Commissioner John Elungata distributed the food at Kabirwira market in Murang'a East sub-county.
Village elders have been tasked with identifying affected families to ensure that only needy cases benefit.
