Anglican Bishop pleads with doctors

Mombasa Diocese Anglican Bishop Rt. Rev Julius Kalu pleaded with striking doctors Saturday during a service at the Mombasa Memorial Cathedral.

Speaking to worshipers who had turned out in large numbers, the cleric requested doctors to resume to work as people urgently needed their services. "I am pleading with those who are taking care of the less privileged especially doctors to continue with the work they were called for. People are dying everyday due to lack of medical attention and the situation is worsening". He humbly said.

He further commended doctors who are attending to patients at home despite of the nation wide strike. "I congratulate the doctors who are treating patients at home as they are doing a very good job. I urge them to continue doing that even though they are striking", he enthused.

He beseeched the striking doctors to not only think of the salary increment they are advocating for but also consider the lives of people which are at stake.

"As we end the year today, I pray that life will get better next year 2017 for all the citizens in our country. I wish all of you a Happy and Prosperous New Year". He concluded.
