Starehe parliamentary aspirant Stanley Gikonyo has accused sitting area MP Maina Kamanda of planning to manipulate the 2017 election.

He says that Kamanda has been playing funny theatrics rather than initiating projects that are growth oriented.

Gikonyo cites poor roads, insecurity, and unemployment as an issue that needs public address as youths in the area are turning to drugs.

The aspirant further questioned the president move appointing Kamanda to lead his presidential campaigns in Nairobi noting that Uhuru was ill advised.

He says that this placed other aspirants, especially in Starehe as a second fiddle as Kamanda has been bragging about being the president’s favorite candidate.

“I have information of how Kamanda is putting down structures to rig 2017 election exactly how he did in 2013, he stole my victory but this time we will not allow as everyone is optimistic that IEBC will conduct credible exercise without favour,” he said.

According to him, Jubilee Party should embark on setting up appropriate mechanisms to ensure just, peaceful and fair nomination process.

Gikonyo says that IEBC should be allowed to use alternative mechanisms during the election if the proposed biometric fails in some areas.

He said that there should be a backup plan to the electronic identification of voters and transmission of results in General elections in case technology fails. In this way, the electoral commission can use manual means to identify voters and transmit election results.

“The parliament should pass laws that would allow IEBC to use alternative mechanism if the proposed biometric fails,” he advised.
