Crackdown on speed needs better ideas

We all agree that speeding kills, but the manner in which the crackdown on speeding motorists is being carried out leaves a lot to be desired.

This is mainly due to lack of immediate evidence from the alleged “speed camera” in spite of advances in technology.

Why can’t mobile computers be at hand to replay the offence instead of five policemen simultaneously pretending to receive calls from a real or imagined speed “cameraman” when they see a car approaching?

You mean they have video conferencing capabilities? What become of the much-hyped Justice Willy Mutunga’s initiatives of instant ticketing, reduced fines and use of M-Pesa to pay fines and bonds? Only a multi-agency effort will read corruption on our roads and the National Transport and Safety Authority needs to make its operations more efficient.
