CORD chief Raila Odinga has had a long stint in politics spanning over 25 years.
He has been in the forefront fighting for the welfare of Kenyans in all sectors. Mr Raila has declared his interest in vying for the presidency in 2017. This has not gone down well with other leaders in the coalition. Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula has already launched his presidential bid. This is a clear indication of discord in CORD and it can lead to the downfall of the coalition.
With all these wrangles in the coalition, Raila should step aside and let others lead. This will stem the mass exodus of legislators from ODM, which is a constituent of CORD. Raila ran for president in 1997, 2007 and 2013 and lost. It is only fair to let another person try his or her luck this time round.
