The move by the Government to appoint Wilson Kipkirui Aruasa as the Director of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Eldoret for a period of five years is commendable.
Dr Aruasa, who has served the hospital for over 10 years and having acted as CEO of the hospital for eight years, is well placed to head the institution. He has restored law and order besides eliminating lazy and incompetent officers at the institution.
CEOs who have been at the facility have in most cases been away from the institution on official duties, leaving behind Aruasa to take charge, which he does to the best of his knowledge.
It is time the Government gives him the opportunity to head the facility if he has done well during the just-concluded interview.
This has really boosted the morale of civil servants who have done well in their places of work.
