Nairobi, Kenya: Police have summoned Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama for questioning over alleged remarks he made at the weekend that money is being misused in the Interior Ministry.
Muthama, who is also the Senate Minority Whip, is expected to appear before officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) along Kiambu Road Tuesday to explain the allegations that the ministry had misused more than Sh3.8 billion.
He is alleged to have made the remarks in Matungulu, Machakos County where he linked Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery to the saga.
Muthama confirmed he would be at the DCI at 10 am.
Officers at the DCI said they are ready to listen to what he knows about the funds.

This comes after similar summons were issued to journalists two weeks ago over a story they wrote on the alleged misappropriation of funds at the ministry.
Police later dropped investigations into the Parliamentary reporters Alphonse Shiundu (Standard), John Ngirachu (Nation) and James Mbaka (Star).
The officers revealed they had received instructions to terminate the probe they had launched.
