When Mumias Sugar Company was struggling financially, the Government handed the miller Sh1 billion from taxpayers’ money.

After Kenya Airways recorded a Sh29 billion loss, talk has been rife in political circles that the Government should rescue the national carrier.

The airline needs to be rescued by any other means apart from using taxpayers’ money. And those responsible for KQ’s mess must be held accountable.

Bailing out financially troubled public companies must not be done with public funds as this is going to encourage corrupt public servants to continue looting.

The loopholes rogue officials use should be sealed to prevent a repeat of the same.
