Two members of a family were lynched by angry mourners in Kiera Village, Tharaka Nithi County yesterday after being suspected to have been involved in death of another family member.
It is alleged that James Miriti and his cousin Martin Muria bewitched the deceased, Kinyua Njeru, so that they can inherit his land.
Tharaka-Nithi County police boss Johnston Ipara confirmed the incident.
"By the time police arrived at the scene, the two who had also attended the burial, had already been killed by villagers," he said.
The two bodies were taken to Chuka Sub-county hospital mortuary.
