Sensational national women's under-20 captain and Harambee Statlets skipper Neddy Atieno has shade off the ankle injury she had during the East African University Games in Kampala, Uganda in February.

Atieno was playing for Kenya Methodist University(KEMU) who later emerged the champions in the region when she was injured before moving to the oldest women premier league in the country,Makolanders.

The former Tartar High school player was included in a 25 member provisional squad for the senior team on Wednesday.

The team started residential training at the Moi Sports Centre,Kasarani on Friday morning ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympics qualifier away in Botswana next weekend.

" I am happy for the call up.I missed out the international friendly match against Egypt in March but I am going to do my best to get the into the final squad, " said

Atieno who inspired the under-20 team in 2012 during the  Fifa World Cup qualifiers added she will work hard to continue scoring to help the national team qualify to the third round.

The team Atieno lead was eliminated by Tunisia in the third round of qualifiers.

This will be Starlets second competitive international match after they were eliminated by She Amavumbi of Rwanda in the African women championship.
