Kenya: The Matatu Owners Association (MOA) has called on all public service vehicle operators to lower transport fares following the recent reduction in fuel prices.
MOA Chairman Simon Kimutai said it is only fair for the Matatu sector to pass the benefits of fuel price reduction to the public.
"Following the recent price reduction of fuel in the country, PSV operators under our association have already reduced fare prices and I would like to urge every other operator to do the same," said Mr Kimutai.
Addressing the Press in Nairobi yesterday, Kimutai said long distance fare prices have reduced by 20 per cent.
"We should not only adjust our fare prices when fuel price goes up but also when there is a reduction in the same," Kimutai said.
