As confusion reigns over name, modality and authorities to take charge ahead of this year’s top tier football league, Nakumatt FC have confirmed that they will play nowhere else apart from the top league.

Speaking to The Standard, Nakumatt FC Team Manager Bernard Olulo has said his team will compete favorably with the big boys.

“Look here, we did not invite ourselves to the top league. We have credible documentation from football authorities giving us directions on where to play.” Said Olulo.

Currently two football bodies, Kenya Premier League and Football Kenya Federation, are embroiled in a tough tussle over administration and modalities of 2015 football league season. Arbitration from the national government and world football governing body FIFA have all but left sour taste in the mouths of leaders with blame games still flying left right and centre.

Nakumatt FC is one of the two extra teams that were promoted to top tier football in an ambitious eighteen team league by Football Kenya Federation. FKF has insisted on eighteen teams while KPL is adamant it will have a lean sixteen team league in 2015. If KPL has its way, Nakumatt will definitely feel shortchanged.

“The kind of investment we have put in this team, it would be unfair to take us back to the Nationwide.” Says Team Manager Bernard Olulo adding that “We have signed players with the top league in mind. Anything lower will not go down well with us.”

The Kenya Premier League has announced that its league will kick off on 21st February while that of Football Kenya Federation will start on February 14.
