Nyeri, Kenya: Caesar Thiari, a brother of Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando, has denied killing his 70-year-old mother when he appeared before outgoing Nyeri High Court judge James Wakiaga.
The youngest among the legislator's siblings was arrested shortly after allegedly murdering Rose Wachera on July 27, but was found to be mentally unfit to stand trial.
After spending a month at the Mathari Hospital in Nairobi, Thiari was certified fit to take a plea for the murder.
A composed Thiari was represented by lawyer Kimani Njuguna – hired for him by the State. When the charges were read out to him in Kiswahili, he responded, "Nimekataa" (I deny).
