Kenya, Angola in new agreement to boost relations

LUANDA, ANGOLA: Kenya and Angola last evening launched bilateral relations with the signing of three key agreements.

The bilateral agreements were signed by Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed and her Angola counterpart Mr. Georges Chikoti at Talatona Conference Centre in Luanda.

The signed documents were an Agreement on the Establishment of the Joint Commission Cooperation, Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultation between the Ministry of External Relation of Angola and Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and the General Agreement on Economic, Scientific, Cultural and Technical Cooperation between the governments of Kenya and Angola.

Speaking after signing the agreements, Amb. Mohamed said Kenya and Angola have embarked on a bilateral journey that would benefit citizen of the two countries.

“This is a historic event. The intention of the two governments is to ensure that the relationship has a good impact on the citizens of our countries,” Mohamed said.

She said signing of the agreements has opened the gates for the two countries’ consultation and cooperation at the bilateral, regional and multilateral levels.

On his part, Mr. Chikoti expressed confidence that the agreements would boost relations between Kenya and Angola.

He concurred that the two countries should take advantage of the signed instruments to improve the lives of their citizens.
