Meru road accident claims six lives

Six people died when a matatu travelling along the Meru-Nairobi highway was involved in gruesome accident at Wiru area, Maara sub county Tharaka Nithi County.

Area OCPD John Njihia said the Nissan matatu was carrying passengers from Meru to Nairobi when one of its tyres burst.

“The matatu rolled several times and the six were killed on the spot while the rest who are in critical condition were rushed to Chogoria PCEA Hospital,” Said Njihia.

“Most of them are in critical condition and we have since begun investigation and a head count of all the passengers to identify the real number,” he added.

The bodies  are at the Chuka sub county Hospital Mortuary.
