EPL: Petr Cech last night delivered a stunning put-down to Arsenal's trophy hopes after claiming pretty football does not win titles. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is under orders to play more attractive football but Blues keeper Cech insists that it will not guarantee success. “In the end you count the titles and if you have figure skating where you are judged by how nicely your routine is then obviously that is one point,” said Cech.
“But football is about points and goals and you need to get points to win trophies.” Cech responded after Arsenal fans chanted: “Boring Chelsea” during their clash at the Emirates. Arsenal have not won a trophy since the FA Cup in 2005 while Mourinho is looking to win his third title as Chelsea boss. Chelsea boss Mourinho has been left skating on thin ice because he has been trying to respect Roman Abramovich's wishes to play more attractive football but has not been getting the results.
It has been an inconsistent season for the Blues but Cech insists that they will go from strength to strength in the second half of the campaign. Cech added: “We are right up there - we are two points (behind Liverpool). We don't depend on anyone else. “If we win our games we have a big chance of winning the title so it's very positive and we know that we haven't hit the best level of this team yet. We are improving and hopefully that will show. “Jose Mourinho doesn't have a magic wand and you wave the wand and everything goes the way you want. If you come you need to find what you have in your team, learn how the people are and how they work.
