There will be no league matches this weekend as teams take a break to face off in GOtv shield cup quarterfinal. Eight teams are in action with a surprise division one team.

Saturday: Mathare United v Sony Sugar (Nyayo-2pm)

Mathare United are well known for draws but they have a chance to make a name in the GOtv shield and victory against Sony will place them right in the last four. Sony also on the other hand needs some morale as they fight to stay afloat the KPL table and with their options in Moses Arita and Marwa Chamberi they can pull it through.

Gor Mahia v Western Stima (Nyayo-4:30pm)

Gor Mahia has all the odds in this fixture that will see them facing Western Stima for the third time this season.

Coach Bobby Williamson is likely to shuffle his pack and give other players opportunity to prove themselves. As usual, Ivo Mapunda is likely to start in goal like it has been in the previously GoTv matches.  Stima will have to up their game if at they need to go past the inform Gor Mahia. The likes of Dennis Onkangi and Francis Ocholla will need to be at their best to get behind the solid defense Gor mahia has shown in the recent matches.

Sunday: Sofapaka v Finlays  (Nyayo-2pm)

Surprisingly, Finlays is the only Division One sides still the GOTv shield competition and are having a tough fixture after being pooled with former champions Sofapaka. It should be noted that Finlays took  Bandari down on post-match penalties to qualify to the next stage

They may lack experience but football is always full of surprises and so Sofapaka should not underrate them in any way.

AFC Leopards v Karuturi Sports (Nyayo-4:30pm)

AFC Leopards surely need a piece of silverware this season and this seems to be the only shortcut as they face struggling Karuturi. Ingwe’s coach James Nandwa has won three consecutive matches and will be looking to continue with the good run against the flower men. Karuturi will be out to redeem themselves as their relegation survival in the KPL worsens.
