A clergyman has been arraigned at the Kibera law courts accused of passing false information.

Bishop Walter Obare, Head of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya yesterday appeared before Acting Senior Principle Magistrate E Juma.

It is alleged that on June 20, last year while at Nyayo House in Nairobi, Obare informed an immigration officer that Rev James May of USA had no valid entry and was not properly permitted to engage in employment as a missionary with Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya.

The court was told that Obare wanted the immigration officer, Anthony Njoroge, to use his powers to rectify the case, to the annoyance of James May.

The bishop, who is out on bond, will have his case heard on September 10 before Chief Magistrate Wanjala.

However, Obare is not new to legal suits.

Last year February, a warrant of arrest was issued against him for contempt of court by the Magistrate’s Court in Kisii.
