Barrenness sends desperate wife into prophet’s arms

A man in Ikonzo Village of Busia County differed bitterly with a ‘‘prophet’ who ran off with his wife after a series of fervent ‘healing’ prayers.

It happened that the man’s wife, after seven years of childlessness, had sought prayers from the prophet to reverse her supposed barrenness.

Shockingly, even though the self-styled prophet was a family friend, he eloped with the woman after several prayer sessions, perhaps because he felt he could treat her bareness with the right ‘injection’ as opposed to prayer.

The man alleges that he had taken his wife to very many hospitals to establish whether she was barren or not, and to seek treatment for her condition. But when nothing was forthcoming, they decided to visit the prophet, who was his friend.

The prophet prescribed fervent prayers that took weeks and during which he coaxed the woman into marriage.

Unfortunately, the marriage did not last. After two months, the woman fled to her parents’ home in Bumala, citing many reasons for the break-up, among them incompatibility.

Her former husband took the opportunity to walk around warning his close friends against the prophet and his antics.

“Avoid that man like the plague. He is lethal and should never come close to your wives. The only miracle he performs is taking peoples wives,” he said again and again.

When Crazy Monday contacted the estranged wife, she confirmed the allegations and recounted how it all happened.

She intimated that the prophet told her that God had directed that he (the prophet) take her away from her husband, because he was impotent. He told her that she could only get a child if she married the so-called prophet, who was divorced.

Interestingly, after fleeing from the prophet, the woman attempted to go back to her former husband who, for obvious reasons, was not amused. He sent her away, saying there was no way he was going to take her back, and that, in any case, he is busy searching for her replacement.

Calls from her parents and relatives requesting him to take her back fell on deaf ears and the poor woman’s fate hangs in the balance as she is not only childless but without a husband as well.
