Hundreds of Kangemi residents benefited from a free medical camp pitched in the area.
Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) provided medical personnel to offer services on pro bono basis to the community at Kiumbuini Stadium.
KRCS Deputy Secretary General James Kisia said they chose the area because of its large population and poor access to adequate health care. “Because of the work I do I only manage to give my family the basic needs; getting access to medical attention sometimes becomes a tall order for me. Such camps have been a blessing to us,” a beaming Bernard Maina, one of those attended to at the camp told The Standard.
Dr Kisia identified infrastructure and education levels as major hindrances to their work efforts in certain areas. The camp was also used to mark the World Red Cross Day.
