Police in Nyeri County have tracked down members of a criminal gang said to be terrorising boda boda operators in Mathira Constituency.
Nyeri Police Commander Adiel Nyange said detectives had arrested two men in connection with the murder of eight people and recovered three stolen motorbikes.
Nyange said one of the suspects had confessed to the murders reported in March this year.
“It has been a breakthrough in hunting down the criminals who we believe were involved in the killing of boda boda operators in the constituency,” he said.

He noted that one of the suspects was arrested while in possession of a stolen motorbike.
“The suspects were arraigned in Nanyuki High Court where they were denied bond,” he said.
He asked the public to trust the police officers to carry out their duties.
In April, the murder of George Kariuki, a boda boda operator, led to protests, with over 3,000 motorbike riders from Mathira burned down his house in General China, Nyeri County.
The riders also stormed Karatina Level 4 Hospital and lynched one of the suspects while another escaped.
