A section of Kiambu County ward reps has faulted the distribution of relief food as a mitigation to combat the spread of coronavirus.
The MCAs are now demanding that the food distribution be halted until a better formula is found and the food tested before being dished out.
They accused Kiambu Governor James Nyoro of insincerity by issuing a lesser amount of food even after a supplementary budget of Sh130 million had been passed by the assembly coupled with other donations of over Sh150 million.
Kijabe MCA Stephen Nyutu faulted the governor over the distribution of 200kgs of rice in every ward for distribution to vulnerable families, which he says is too little for the population.

Kamenu Ward MCA Raphael Chege questioned the rationale of giving 200kg of rice to a ward of over 30,000 people.
“What can 200kgs rice do for my people, the governor is causing animosity between the MCAs and locals,” he explained.
Karuri Ward Rep Peter Wainaina said the rice was only enough to feed 200 people.
However, speaking in Ruiru where he made the donations, Nyoro told off his critics urging the reps to stop politicising the food distribution exercise.
