Defence lawyer Gathii Irungu successfully applied to avail copies of all statements and documentary evidence, as well as the charge.
Irungu also applied for a reasonable bond or cash bail, saying his client would not fail to honour court summons since he was a politician known to both the police and complainant.
The accused was released on a bond of Sh200,000, with surety of a similar amount or a cash bail of Sh100,000.
The case was adjourned until January 20, next year, when the hearing is expected to commence.
