Farmers in Meru will benefit from an initiative that offers training on increasing milk yields and cutting down production costs.
The farmers in the new Buuri District have faced challenges in dairy farming and lag behind compared to neighbouring districts like Imenti South and Meru Central.
This will change after a non-governmental organisation, ABS TCM Timau Dairy project embarked on reviving the activity in the District.
Timau Dairy Project Manager Henry Magara said the organisation would educate farmers on how to lower milk production costs and lobby for better prices.

Yesterday, the organisation sponsored an exhibition that attracted hundreds of dairy farmers to educate them on how to feed cattle and market their products. They were also trained on methods of harvesting and preserving fodder and making silage.
