Kisii Medical Training College has admitted 170 students who were to join the institution two months ago. The students are among 3,721 others selected to join the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) after the withdrawal of a case blocking their admission.
Fifty of the students will be pursing Nursing, 40 Medical Lab technology while 70 will be taking Clinical Medicine.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) had obtained court orders on September 9 barring the students from reporting to any KMTC college on the grounds that the medical college is not mandated to conduct admissions.
According to the college’s Deputy Principal James Ombui, the students got a reprieve after KUCCPS and KMTC agreed before Justice Weldon Korir to terminate the acrimonious litigation after the intervention of the Government.
