The women’s Under-23 volleyball team is all set for the task ahead of them in Tijuana Mexico.
The national team coach Sammy Mulinge who recently named his final squad affirmed that the girls have had good training and are ready for tournament.
“The girls are ready for the task ahead of them they have had good training and I believe that by the end of our residential training the team will be good enough to compete in the championships,” he said.
He said although Kenya has been pooled in a tough group they are determined to perform well.

Kenya is pooled together with USA, Brazil, Turkey, China and Cuba.
Captain confident
Team captain Gaudencia Makokha is very confident in the team putting her hope in the international exposure the players have gained.
Most of the Under-23 national team players have played in the junior team and have been on several international assignments.
“Players have gained international exposure and that gives us confidence. Kenyans should have faith in us because we are going to put up a hard fight,” she said.
She also draws her confidence from the good performance of the women’s senior volleyball team who retained the African Cup of Nations unbeaten.
Makokha was in the team that excelled in the tournament and intends to carry the same spirit to Tijuana.
Meanwhile, the team for the fourth year running received sponsorship from Kenchic. The team, expected to hold a residential training at Kasarani will be supplied with Kenchic products.
Speaking during handing over of the sponsorship, Kenchic Catering Manager Susan Mwania said, “Kenchic is pleased to be associated with the volleyball teams and we will continue supporting them to motivate the players.
