Kenya’s wait for 10,000m Olympics gold continues

Kenya missed out on a medal in the men's 10,000m final at Olympic stadium, in which Mo Farah won gold for Great Britain.

Kenya’s 40 year jinx in the 10,000m continues after missing out in the medal bracket.

Moses Ndiema Masai finished a distant 12^th in a time of 27.41.34 seconds with the Kenyan best placed Bedan Karoki Muchiri who was making his debut in the Olympics missing out in the medal bracket as he finished 5^th in a time of 27.32.94 seconds.

Kiprop did not finish the race as he pulled out with about eight laps into the race.

Beijing Olympics champion Kenenisa Bekele was unable to replicate his 2008 form as he finished 4^th in a time of 27.32.44 seconds.

Mo Farah became the first Briton to win Olympic 10,000m gold with a tremendous victory.

The 29-year-old won in a time of 27 minutes, 30.42 seconds.

Farah's triumph ended a run of four successive Ethiopian wins and stopped Kenenisa Bekele from winning a third consecutive title.

Galen Rupp of the United States finished second, while Ethiopia's Tariku Bekele finished third.

Mike McLeod was the last Briton to win a 10,000m medal with silver in 1984.

The gold is Farah's first Olympic medal in his second Games - four years ago in Beijing, he failed to qualify for the 5,000m final.
