Police in Kisii are investigating a Saturday morning incident where unknown people set ablaze a section of a house belonging to an Assistant Chief in Bonyando Sub location.
The 10 am incident was reported at the Gesonso Police Station where the arsonists allegedly set the sitting room on fire.
At the time of the incident, The Standard learnt that the Assistant Chief, identified as Duke Mokua was away in Mombasa with his family for the Christmas festivities.
A television set, seats, and bedding were caught in the fire, all approximated to cost Sh50,000.
A police report however indicated that the house remained intact.
