Moyale, Kenya: Moyale leaders have welcomed the presidential peace deal reached by a committee headed by former House Speaker Francis Ole Kaparo last week.
The leaders have agreed to implement the peace process and end the recurring conflict between the Borana and Gabra–Burji communities.
Over the weekend, the Kaparo led committee met various representatives from the warring communities at Al-Yusra Hall to seek lasting solution to the crisis.
The committee, met leaders of six different communities at different times to air their views on the conflict that had claimed several lives and destroyed property worth millions of shillings in recent months.

It was revealed in the meeting that the two warring communities shifted blame for the atrocities that have hit the region for years. The committee collected views for recommendation and forwarding to the President before returning to deliver the verdict.
Marsabit Governor Ukur Yattani, five regional MPs, County Senator Harugura Godana, Former Moyale MP Mohamud Ali and other local leaders attended the meeting.
The former speaker said his team visited hotspot areas such as Iladhu, Odha, Butiye, Manyatta, Funan-Nyata and Heillu.
