Rwandan gospel singer Gloriose Musabyimana, widely known by her stage name Gogo, has died in Uganda at the age of 36.
Her death occurred on the night of Wednesday, September 3, 2025, following a short illness.
According to Rwandan broadcaster Royal FM, Musabyimana was taken to Kyegera Doctors Center in Kampala after her condition worsened but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A medical report confirmed her passing, although the exact cause of death is yet to be made public.
Musabyimana had been in Uganda for a series of ministry engagements.
She performed at a three-day gospel crusade in Mbarara from August 29 to 31 before traveling to Kampala for promotional work with her team. It was during her stay in the capital that she reportedly fell ill.
Her team initially thought it was a minor issue, as she had a pre-existing heart condition. However, her health quickly worsened, and she was taken to hospital.
She built her reputation through a blend of passionate worship and relatable gospel lyrics. She gained wide popularity on YouTube, TikTok, and other digital platforms, where her songs often went viral.
Her song, “Every day, I Need Blood of Jesus,” was a massive hit that helped launch her career and brought attention to her other songs, including “Uwo Mwana.”
Gogo was born in 1989 in Rwamagana, Eastern Province, and was a member of the Anglican Church.
She lost both of her parents at a young age.
