A minibus carrying an unknown number of passengers overturned on Magadi Road, leaving those inside trapped as they struggled to free themselves.

In a video shared by popular biker ‘Biker Nairobi’, who was riding a few cars away from the scene, the Rongao Sacco bus could be seen attempting to overlap.

The bus then momentarily went off the road and slipped into a ditch next to the seemingly slippery tarmac.

Biker Nairobi was the first to respond, pulling passengers through the windows and alerting other road users, whose swift action helped save more lives.

As the bus lay on its side, some passengers managed to climb out through the windows while others remained stuck.

“Nisaidie!” One woman could be heard screaming before eventually being pulled out of the toppled bus.

Bystanders smashed the rear windshield to create an additional escape route, eventually evacuating everyone on board.

Among the survivors was a visibly shaken woman showing signs of trauma, alongside several others who were helped out by motorists and passersby.

The rescuers left only after confirming that no passengers were still trapped inside.

Authorities have yet to release the exact number of casualties.

The crash comes amid a spate of fatal road accidents across the country.

Last week, 26 people died in a bus crash at the Coptic roundabout in Kisumu.

According to official figures, about 50 people have lost their lives in major accidents nationwide over the past few days.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has attributed the surge in road accidents to three main factors: human behaviour, vehicle mechanical condition, and poor road infrastructure.
