The Meru County Government collected Sh540 million in 2018/2019 financial year, up from Sh320 million, a senior official has said.
County Revenue Board CEO John Ntoiti attributed the achievement to support from the Executive, County Assembly and team work in the revenue department.
MCA Ruth Kananu said County Assembly members were "pleased with the improvement in the revenue collection".
“We are happy that we can see that the revenue department is working because collections have gone up. We want it to increase even further,” said Ms Kananu.
The increase in revenue was also attributed to the revenue and enforcement officers who recently went through a training exercise to improve their effectiveness.

Speaking at the weekend, Ntoiti and Deputy Governor Titus Ntuchiu said since enforcement officers started working, there had been a marked improvement in revenue collection.
"Over the years, there had never been as much revenue collection as being collected now," Mr Ntuchiu said.
The revenue board is expected to save more money after moving from rented premises to county government offices currently under renovation.
