Machakos, Kenya: The late former Chief of General Staff, General (rtd) Jackson Kimeu Mulinge, will be buried on Saturday.
The country's longest serving military chief passed on at Nairobi Hospital on June 16 after a long illness.
According to his son Major General (rtd) James Mulinge, burial arrangements were at an advanced stage.
"We have been holding funeral planning meetings in Nairobi, Machakos and Kathiani since last week with the final meeting scheduled for Thursday," he said.
He said a requiem mass will be held at Nairobi's Milimani AIC on Friday from 11am.

The funeral service will be held at Kathiani Boys High School grounds followed by a "private" burial at Mulinge's home.
MP for Kathiani Robert Mbui, who is a grandson of Gen Mulinge, said the family was not mourning the death of his grandfather but celebrating his well lived life.
