NAIROBI, KENYA: An Mpesa operator was Tuesday night shot and seriously injured in a robbery incident in Embakasi area, Nairobi.
The woman was walking home after closing her business when she was confronted by gunmen near Ngong River, which is near Pipeline area.
Police say she tried to resist the approach by a gang of three prompting them to shoot her as she escaped. She was shot from the back and bullet lodged in the stomach. She was robbed of unknown amount of money and airtime valued at Sh400,000 by the gang which escaped on foot.
Police say they have not arrested any suspect over the incident. The woman was rushed to hospital where she was admitted in a serious condition.
