The final journey for Kenya’s second president has begun. Daniel Kapkorios Toroitich arap Moi died on Tuesday, February 4, at the Nairobi Hospital. He was aged 95.

Most dignitaries and senior government officials exit Parliament Buildings after viewing the body of former President Daniel Moi.

Members of the public continue to trickle in to view Moi's remains that was in full view.

Queues of residents stretch from Parliament Buildings down Harambee Avenue upto Aga Khan Walk in the CBD.

More queues stretch further, continously swelling in their hundreds on City Hall Way, as residents wait to view Moi's remains.

An hour to go for President Uhuru and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta to arrive and view the body first.

Dignitaries, citizens and foreigners start trickling in.

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja says political atmosphere in Kenya after Moi's death has been that of unity and to remember how he shaped democracy.

"The greatest honour we can give Moi is to ensure unity," he said.

"He played his part and when it was time to go, he paved way."

President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta to be the first to view the body before other leaders and then members of the public.

The body of the former President Daniel Moi left the Lee Funeral Home for Parliament Buildings ahead of the public viewing from today until Monday.

The military truck carrying the body made its way from the Lee Funeral Home through Valley Road escorted in a military convoy.

The casket was draped with the Kenyan flag.

 Military officers accompanied the truck side with family members also in the procession

KDF soldiers lined up along the entire route to Parliament Buildings where the body is to lie in state for three days.

The casket carrying the body will be wheeled by a carriage.
