There was drama at the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital after a mob evicted the institution's new administrator from office.
Services came to a standstill as the mob blocked Emmerculate Ojung’a from entering her office over claims of incompetence.
Ms Ojung’a was transferred to the facility from Kendy Bay Sub County hospital by the county government.
The protestors carrying twigs stormed a meeting in the CEO’s office and ejected the new administrator.
Others in the meeting were the County Chief Officer for Health Gerald Akeche, the hospital acting Chief Executive Officer Meshack Liru and the outgoing administrator Zachary Ogweno.
“You are interfering with the management of this hospital. Go back to Kendu Bay where you have come from,” the youths shouted.
Efforts by the hospital management to intervene were futile. The officials called Homa Bay OCS Zamdan Mkondo to quell the violence.
The new administrator and the Health officials recorded statements at Homa Bay Police Station. County Health executive Richard Muga said the transfer of 140 health officials was in order.
