United States President Donald Trump on Monday met President Uhuru Kenyatta at the White House but ignored one question that journalists kept asking.

“Any comments on the late John Mccain?”

During a photo session with President Kenyatta, Trump refused to comment on the matter, choosing to focus on the business of the idea, discussions with Kenya’s President.

Despite relentless efforts by journalists, the US President steered clear of the matter but later issued a short statement on the same, saying: “Despite our differences on policy and politics, I respect Senator John McCain's service to our country.

“Our hearts and prayers are going to the family of Senator John McCain. There's going to be a lot of activity over the next number of days and we very much appreciate everything that Senator McCain has done for our country."

The CNN reported that prior to his death, McCain chose former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush to eulogize him and didn't want Trump to attend his funeral.

While he was alive, Mccain often expressed displeasure at how Trump was handling issues affecting the US and had an issue with his demeanor.

The former prisoner of war died on August 25, 2018, aged 81 at his home in Arizona.

During his meeting with Uhuru, President Trump said Kenya and the US will continue to work together to grow their partnership in trade, investments, and security.

“We do a lot of trade. And we do a lot of defense and security. And we’re working very much on security right now. And I appreciate you very much being with us and your staff. This is really great,” he remarked.
