An ICT Manager at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has gone missing.
Chris Msando has been missing since Friday night and his family Sunday said they couldn't trace him. He was one of the few staff at the commission with knowledge of where the ICT servers are kept. He is the acting deputy ICT director.
The family reported the matter at Embakasi police station.
“One of our ICT Managers has gone missing. The Commission is working with police and family to establish his whereabouts,” the commission said in a tweet.
Chairman Wafula Chebukati said Msando was last seen on Friday night.
“The last communication from him is an SMS text sent to one of his colleagues at around 3am on Saturday morning. The content of the SMS suggests that he was conscious and fully aware of his itinerary for that day,” said Chebukati.
He had been on KTN for a show where he highlighted the commission’s plans to deliver credible polls.
The incident is a blow to IEBC as Msando was to lead a dry run programme Monday to demonstrate how transmission of results would be done.
