Cameroon head coach Enow Ngachu has expressed his delight after the hosts became the first to qualify for the 2016 AWCON finals.
Genevieve Ngo Mbeleck came off the bench to score a controversial goal and secure a second win for the hosts after day one’s 2-0 win over Egypt.
“Matches against South Africans are often very difficult. It was the mental aspect that made the difference. And the fans helped us a lot. We scored at the right time. It’s sort of a repeat of what happened in Namibia in 2014. It was a battle in midfield,” said Ngachu after Tuesday’s win.
CELEBRATION: Birthday parties for Starlets
Fini Hotel in Limbe, where the national women’s team, Harambee Starlets, stays, has been a beehive of activity since the Africa Women Cup of Nations begun.
Starlets in collaboration with the hotel management have organised three birthday parties for three different players since pitching camp here in Limbe a fortnight ago.
First, it was Christine Nafula’s birthday who turned 25 on November 10 followed by historic goal scorer Esse Akida’s 24th birthday on November 18.
Doris Anyango then celebrated her 23rd birthday on November 19, a day before Kenya’s AWCON debut match against Egypt.
