Nairobi, Kenya: Independent electoral and boundaries commission chairman Issaac Hassan has announced that the next general election will be held on Tuesday 8th of August 2017.

The commission in an ambitious plan has set a target of 22.4 million registered voters; this is 8 million more than the number registered for the 2013 general election.

Hassan also announced that Foreign Countries with more than 3000 kenyans will qualify to serve as polling stations for kenyans in the diaspora. The commission is now urging all eleigible kenyans to register as voters even as it calls on the national treasury to provide adequate and timely funding to enable election preparations.
