Kenya: Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has asked the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinet to ensure that his mobile phone is returned to him, a week after it was confiscated by the police.

Sossion has also dared Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi to take him to court over what the CS termed an 'abusive text message' sent to on the day of Garissa University College terrorist attack.

Speaking Wednesday, Sossion said he will not retract the content of the message he sent Kaimenyi because they were the 'true reflection of the CS.'

"If I said he is a disgrace to the education sector, I meant it because he has failed the sector a number of times and by now, he should have resigned," said Sossion.

The Knut boss said Kaimenyi has bungled education sector by failing to advise the president effectively.

"He has issued very unpopular policies, most of which have even been rejected by MPs.  He does not consult and neither does he advise the government on security matters. Why should we have such a minister running education sector?" said Sossion.

Kaimenyi accused Sossion of sending him an abusive text on the day  when 148 people were killed in Garissa, most of them being students.

He said Sossion message 'lacked respect' for him and his position as a cabinet secretary.
