Zetech University women's basketball team recorded impressive results during the Kenya Universities Sports Association (Kusa) Nairobi Conference staged at the United States International University-Africa (USIU-A) over the weekend.
Zetech got their first win of the day of 51-29 against Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) and went ahead to rout Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) 51-22.
They also grabbed another win of the weekend overwhelming Africa Nazarene University (ANU) 40-25. However, their winning spree was checked by the hosts as they lost 39-26 against USIU-A in the last match.
In the other games, ANU regrouped after their loss to Zetech to take their battle to the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) door step and emerged victorious with a 54-30 win while USIU-A pulled another 62-30 win over Daystar University.
Strathmore recorded a 33-25 win over Kenyatta University in their first match and went ahead to beat Mount Kenya University Thika campus (MKU) 58-20.
In their third game, in form Strathmore was on it again recording a 56-43 win over Day Star.
MKU put aside their frustrations of losing the first match against Strathmore to beat TUK 44-28 in their second match.
MKU Thika, USIU-A, Kenyatta University were awarded free points from walkovers against Catholic University of East Africa who failed to honour their fixtures.
KeMU Nairobi Campus registered a slim but productive 40-37 win over MKU Thika while University of Nairobi (UoN) whitewashed JKUAT 53-14.
Daystar got a consolation win of 56-38 against KeMU Nairobi Campus.
Only three matches were played in the men's category with UoN defeating JKUAT 47-28 but failed to tame MKU Thika going down 58-50. Zetech beat Kenyatta University 42-28 in another encounter.
In hockey men, Strathmore University secured wins in their two fixtures. They recorded a 3-2 win against Daystar and another 3-0 victory over UoN.
UoN recovered to record a 3-2 win over TUK while MKU beat Multi Media University (MMU) 2-0.
USIU-A humbled Cooperative Bank 4-1 in another one-sided encounter.
In the women's category, Strathmore was on fire registering two wins. In their first match, Strathmore defeated Daystar 4-0 and went ahead to keep a clean sheet by thumping MKU 3-0.
Daystar pulled through the loss to recover and record a 2-0 win over MMU in the last match of the weekend.
