Nairobi, Kenya: Gatundu South MP Jossy Ngugi Nyumu passed on at his Runda home, Nairobi on Wednesday.

The first-time MP collapsed in the bathroom of his house and was rushed to Nairobi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body was been moved to Lee Funeral Home.

Ngugi won the seat, formerly held by President Uhuru Kenyatta, on a TNA ticket after beating his close rival by a significant margin.

Family members and several legislators gathered at his Runda home following the sudden death of the MP which some of them term mysterious.

Humphrey Njuguna Kimani, MP for Gatanga is among those who visited the home of the late MP to express their condolences. Kimani will chair the parliamentary committee which has been selected to make burial arrangements. He said MPs are meeting to manage the ‘crisis’.

Kimani described Nyumu a dynamic man though he might not have been in the forefront. "He was a great a leader who was hardworking and Gatundu South have lost a great leader."

He said the late MP was his close friend and they even communicated on Tuesday night, he was well, but he says he was shocked to learn of his death on Wednesday morning. He termed his death as sudden and announced that they will rest him in peace and dignity.

“According to the initial doctor’s report, the MP succumbed to cardiac arrest, we will get full information within two to three days," said Kimani.

The late MP, 43, is survived by a widow and two sons.
