Pastor John Bankosky Kitonga, son to Redeemed Gospel Church Bishop Arthur Kitonga, has directed the church accountant not to tax his salary.

The pastor has also vowed to continue employing his relatives without restrictions.

In a memo, the younger Kitonga ordered church accountant Paul K. Munyao never to tax his salary or question him on any nepotism charges within the church.

“I have terminated the services of former finance manager Joseph Ndirangu, because of the taxation and human resource issues he has been raising during internal audits,” reads the memo.

In the memo, Pastor Kitonga instructs the accountant to forthwith stop the agenda of taxation, audit and human resource practice within the organisation: “You will stop showing me clauses in the human resource policies that prohibit me from employing my relatives, especially Dorris Mannaseh who is my cousin and accountant of the church business.”

My father is a kingpin

The memo, which the The Nairobian has seen, also instructs the accountant never to mention nepotism: “My other cousins Sammy Kiseve the gardener, Ruth Kiseve the receptionist and Zipporah Kiseve the team maker will not be mentioned again as long as I am in this organisation and my father is the founder.”

Kitonga Junior asks the accountant not to be jittery about Kenya Revenue Authority since his father, Bishop Kitonga “will deal with any arising issue”.

“My father is a kingpin and a public (sic) respected clergy. Any acts by the Kenya Revenue Authority or any other department of the government pointing fingers towards us will be handled personally by him in collaboration with top officials of the particular authority,” he writes.

He then promises the accountant: “You will be in employment, and I will cover you as much as possible, as long as you remain loyal to me and my parents.”

In signing off, the pastor says, “I demand privacy to prevail. Let’s settle down and work. Lets respect each other every time and every moment. By this, no one will ever know anything is happening between us. God will make a way of escape for us because this Gospel must be preached at any cost.”

Contacted,  Pastor Kitonga refused to confirm if he, indeed, authored the memo and said “It’s up to you to decide what to write. I don’t want to talk about that issue for now.”
