NAIROBI, KENYA: Managers of a Nairobi company on Thursday shot dead two gangsters who had robbed their firm near Embakasi along the Eastern bypass in Nairobi.
A third suspect was lynched by the public who caught up with him as he escaped, police said.
A gang of four had raided the firm and robbed the management of Sh310,000 and was escaping when some of the managers there who are licensed to carry firearms shot and killed two.
According to Nairobi police boss Benson Kibui, the managers were driving into the compound on Wednesday afternoon and found the robbery in progress.
“They managed to kill two of the suspects as they escaped and recovered the money and other valuables,” he said.
Kibui added police recovered a homemade pistol from the suspects.
The killing brought to five, the number of suspected gangsters killed since Tuesday night.
Two others were killed by police in Kaloleni area in a botched robbery.
Police said they recovered two guns from them and that two others managed to escape.
