Cricket Kenya (CK) has announced a final squad of 14 players who will represent the country at the forthcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa Under-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers scheduled to be held from 25 to 31 May in Kampala, Uganda.
National team player Emmanuel Bundi has been named captain of the team. The Kongonis all rounder will be supported by Kanbis Sports Club youthful batsman who has been named vice captain.
The squad also has Raj Savala who turned up for Kenya in the 2011 ICC Under-19 World Cup Global Qualifiers in Ireland.
The rest of the members are new to the team but have turned up for the country at the both the Under-15 and 17 levels.
Bundi and Khetiya have been performing well in the provincial leagues alongside Kanbis top order batsman Dhiren Gondaria who also been drafted in the team.
Joseph Owino, who has landed a place in the squad becomes the third member of the Ngoche family to play for the Under-19 team after his elder brothers Nehemiah Odhiambo and Shem Obado.
Exciting prospects, Gautam Bhudia, Bhargab Goswami, Tarandeep Singh and Gurdeep Singh have been impressive for over a year for both their clubs and in trial matches and this has earned them a place in the squad.
Paramveer Singh and Kirtan Patel, who have posted good results in domestic cricket in recent seasons, are also included as are Ikreeth Kenth and Hamza Malik.
The squad will be coached by Steve Tikolo who was named coach last week and he will be assisted by Joseph Angara.
The squad comprises of: Emmanuel Bundi (Captain), Rajesh Khetiya (Vice – Captain), Dhiren Gond aria, Hamza Malik, Ikreet Kenth, Raj Savala, Gautam Bhudia, Tarandeep Singh, Bhargab Goswami, Gurdeep Singh, Joseph Owino, Paramveer Singh, Kirtan Patel and Steve Biko.
