NAIROBI, KENYA: Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo has issued security guidelines for politicians as they engage in campaigns.
Politicians on the campaign trail have been asked not to fly after 6pm for security purposes, and they have been provided with armed security.
Kimaiyo said that body guards have been issued with guidelines on how they should operate during campaigns.
This comes after more than 200 policemen deployed to protect former MPs were withdrawn and redeployed to other services.
The office of the Inspect General of Police however ordered the MPs to apply in writting and pay for the services if they needed.
Meanwhile, the aspirant for legisltive seat for Dagorretti North, Pual Simba Arati was issued armed security three weeks ago following claims of receiving threats.
